At regular intervals, the Upper Danube Nature Conservation Center<\/strong><\/a> in Beuron and Donaubergland Tourismus GmbH regularly organize special action days, events, guided tours and guided hikes. Welcome to the home of nature<\/p>\n

In spring, people are drawn to the outdoors. The Danube Valley in particular, with its fascinating valley panorama, is a popular destination. But as the number of visitors increases, so does the impact on nature. As part of the joint “Heimat Natur” campaign by Donaubergland Tourismus and the Upper Danube Nature Conservation Center, an information marathon will therefore be held on Corpus Christi, 30 May. <\/p>\n

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., staff from the nature conservation center will be out and about in the Danube Valley and the surrounding area. Visitors can talk to the staff and find out more about nature, the unique flora and fauna in the nature park, as well as the nature conservation regulations for activities in the countryside. <\/p>\n

The flower meadows that are currently in full bloom are particularly dependent on our consideration. Even if the desire to have a picnic or sunbathe in the meadow is understandable, this causes problems. Flower meadows are valuable habitats that are disturbed by foot traffic. At the same time, flower meadows are also used to produce animal feed. However, it is impossible for a farmer to mow a trampled meadow. <\/p>\n

Those who want to experience the meadow habitat up close have the opportunity to do so in Inzigkofen-Dietfurt. Together with the Hafersack farm, a “hay meadow labyrinth” has been created above the Danube bridge, where an information stand will be set up during the info marathon. A winding path leads along the most beautiful meadow flowers and offers all kinds of information about the habitat.
\nAnother activity on offer is the ecomobile of the T\u00fcbingen Regional Council at the hiking parking lot near the miniature golf course in Hausen im Tal. Exciting information on the topic of meadows and an entertaining hands-on program will be offered here. The nature conservation center’s two info mobiles will also be out and about as part of the info marathon and will be stationed at the Fridingen hunting lodge and the K\u00e4ppeler estate in Thiergarten. There will be another information stand at the parking lot near the Knopfmacherfelsen. There you will have the opportunity to creatively design earwig pots and find out more about a voluntary ecological year (F\u00d6J) at the Haus der Natur. <\/p>\n

The Haus der Natur is open on Corpus Christi from 1 to 5 pm.

Caves are important retreats for bats in winter. To draw attention to this, the Upper Danube Nature Conservation Centre is organizing an information marathon on the subject of bat and cave protection on Sunday, 23 October from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of the joint “Heimat Natur” campaign with Donaubergland GmbH. <\/p>\n

Even if it may not seem like it at first glance, caves are valuable habitats. Especially in winter, bats find ideal opportunities to spend the cold season here. The problem arises when the animals are disturbed. This is when they wake up from hibernation and their metabolism starts up again. This process consumes a lot of energy. This can lead to bats not surviving the winter. For this reason, the Federal Nature Conservation Act prohibits access to caves from October 1 to the end of March. <\/p>\n

The aim of the Infomarathon is to draw attention to this regulation and explain the background to it.<\/p>\n

The nature conservation center will be in action with its Infomobile at the hiking parking lot near Wildenstein Castle. An information stand of the ArGe H\u00f6hle und Karst Albstadt e.V together with the Nature Conservation Center will be located in the monastery parking lot in Beuron. In addition, information teams will take up positions in front of various caves in the Danube valley and inform visitors about cave protection. There will also be information and a craft activity at the Haus der Natur in Beuron. As part of the HeimatNatur campaign, the nature conservation center in the Danube Valley held another “info marathon”. This time, the focus was on flower meadows and biodiversity. <\/p>\n

Infomarathon focuses on bat and cave protection<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bats require special consideration in winter. To protect them, it is forbidden to enter caves from October to the end of March. To draw attention to this, the Upper Danube Nature Conservation Center<\/strong><\/a> organized an “info marathon”<\/strong> on the topic of bat and cave protection on Sunday, 31 October 2021<\/strong> as part of the joint “Heimat Natur” campaign with Donaubergland GmbH. <\/p>\n

The beautiful fall weather attracted many visitors to the Danube Valley. The information teams were able to explain the background to the topic of bats and caves in around 150 conversations. It is important that caves are not entered in winter. <\/p>\n

Fortunately, there was little to complain about on the day of action. Only on the final trip through the Danube valley did the ranger have to get involved again when a team with exploration equipment wanted to inspect a cave. <\/p>\n

“Rally Canoe – Nature” 2021<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text max_width=”450″]On Saturday, July 31,<\/strong> the Upper Danube Nature Conservation Center<\/strong><\/a> together with the Federal Canoe Association (BV Kanu)<\/strong><\/a> and the Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg Canoeing Association (KVBW)<\/strong><\/a> as part of our “Welcome to the Home of Nature” campaign, we organized an exciting and educational “rally” for canoeists<\/strong> on the Danube in the Upper Danube Valley<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The “Canoe – Nature Rally” not only provided entertaining paddling fun for families and other interested canoeists, but also helped canoeists to get to know nature as a leisure activity worthy of protection and not just as a backdrop.
